I am doing Management consulting but not real happy. Hence want to try out I-banking. I am one year out of a top IVY league MBA program.

It’s difficult to break in if you don’t have experience. Most of the people you’re competing with will have pre-MBA experience. I got top marks in all my finance courses and got interviews but no jobs.

Call your Ivy League MBA program placement office and go back thru the on campus interviewing process. Do this now, you may already be too late for this year’s interviews/open houses etc. All of the major investment banking houses are interviewing on campus. Did you interview with them last year? Get to it!!!!
Alternatively, seek out all of your classmates who went into Investment Banking and seek out an interview. Networking. Ever heard of it? Do it.
C’mon man, IVY League MBA… you should be a shoo-in. Get to it!!!

Move to NYC and keep trying. There are a ton of MBA’s our there. Hopefully you took some finance classes and not just management in MBA school. Maybe you can get a job with a I-Banking company in Management type role and then transfer into I-Banking.
