Yes. I am annoyed and bit intrigues also. I feel that normal bank transactions like checking of balance, tracking of payments/receipts should made free for all age/income groups. Also no of usage of ATMs should not be restricted for free usage. It should be made free irrespective of the no of usage.

I share an account with my husband, and a couple times he or I have forgot to record a debit and then we have problems. It makes me so mad how high the charges are. Banks are for those who are rich not those who are getting by. If I had an easier Way of paying my bills it would be without a bank. And since I am not rich I have bills.

What’s worse is some banks also charge you $5.00 per day until you pay your fee for going over. On top of the $30.00 overdraft per check/debit you went over. Even if it’s only $1.00! Then, if you owe the bank any overdraft fees, they will not close it. They just take the $5.00 a day until you get the money in there. It’s terrible! And then some banks give you the option of overdraft protection, but you need a major credit card to be eligable!

Many banks now offer checking accounts with no fees. Also if you bank with a federal credit union you can use any other FCU ATM for no fee. And make sure all your deposits have posted before you write checks or use your card. Some banks hold deposits up to 2 weeks before posting to your account. If all else fails stop in and talk to someone at the bank. They can help you manage your account better if you ask. Trust me, I learned the hard way.

I hate it too. I try to be very careful but I am on a tight budget and things get pretty tight. If I get to the bank after 2:30pm the deposit won’t be posted until the next business day (which on a Friday would be Monday, even though the bank is open on Saturday). Even if your deposit is pending deposit, and you have a debit pending as well, they will post the debit first and charge and overdraft fee, or even return it NSF! My bank charges $34 per overdraft or NSF, which can cause a very nasty domino effect on my account. I really do hate it.

If you go to your banks atm it won’t charge….and you shouldn’t write checks if you do not have the funds so there should be a penalty…I don’t get any charges on my account. Maybe you should get overdraft protection…that helps a lot. Use bank of america they are awesome.

But better yet, write a check that you have the funds to bakc. Then, the bank doesn’t have an oppurtunity to stick you with a ton of extra fees.

ME. Bank of America has their own rules.

Switch to Compass bank, they are the best and will refund all ATM charges, even from other banks.
